
Opportunity to join the SBG Board of Directors
Swiss Better Gold Association (SBG), a non-profit association dedicated to bringing positive impact to Artisanal and Small-scale Gold Mines (ASGM) through on the ground assistance and responsible supply chains, is excited to announce the opportunity for experienced professionals from NGOs and academia to join our Board of Directors. We are seeking individuals with a strong background in human rights, international cooperation and extractive industry to contribute to strategic guidance and support our mission of improving the working and living conditions of artisanal and small-scale gold mining (ASGM) communities.
The Board foresees the new Board members to:
- Contribute with strategic advice and expertise to the existing executive team
- Assist in advancing SBG’s growth and enhancement strategies
- Provide expertise in specific areas related to SBG mission
- Vote on all topics submitted to the Board
All applicants should fulfill the following requirements. Further, applicants need to be aware that Swiss Better Gold Board of Directors work on a voluntary basis and therefore, this position is not remunerated.
Required candidate qualifications:
- Strong motivation to support SBG.
- Readiness to fulfill SBG Board duties such as confidentiality, duty of care, duty of loyalty and duty of compliance.
- Knowledge of ASGM, extractive or similar expertise.
- Recognised for excellence and achievements in terms of ESG and sustainability.
- Pragmatic and “down to earth" approach.
- Strong connection with Swiss sustainability network, luxury, gold debates and dynamics.
- Diversity of skills, backgrounds, and perspectives to complement current Board members.
- Free of any conflict of interest, whose personal or professional activities do not hinder those of SBG.
- Available to attend meetings and actively participate in SBG Board.
- Excellent command of English and preferably a confident Spanish speaker.
- Ability to commit 4 to 8 hours per month.
